Today´s Market June 28. 2013

Today´s trading was a tug of war; the S&P500 and the Dow closed in negative territory while the NDX closed higher. As expected the market was driven higher experiencing end of month window dressing effect only to dive 20 points right after the close (NDX-100). On the economic front we had mixed signals, while the Chicago PMI came lower than expected the  Consumer Sentiment was higher. At current levels we maintain our neutral stance. As we had a terrific month we decided to stay out of the market today.

The market opened higher and rallied until the 2921 level when it started a sideways to lower move, closing 0.76% higher. As mentioned yesterday, we suspected the market would push higher and expect the same funds´ window dressing tomorrow. On the economic front, the Pending Home Sales Index came out above expectations thus giving the market a fundamental support as well. At current level we maintain our neutral stance. Our recommendations were positive for the day and expect very little to none trading activity tomorrow in order to maintain our monthly profits.

The market opened higher and whipsawed up and down  until 11:30 when it trended higher until the end of the day closing 0.85% higher. We were surprised the market managed to closed higher as the GDP number was below expectations. Perhaps  traders are becoming less risk averse….time will tell. Tomorrow and friday we expect the markets will move  higher as Mutual Funds and Hedge Funds will try push their performance numbers. Our strategy performed well today but we are changing our stance to neutral.

With the exception of early trading, we experienced a less volatile day in the market. China´s central bank intervention announcement combined with better than expected US economic news provided the back bone for a positive day. Even though we traded very lightly as the month is coming to an end, our trading strategy performed well. At current levels we still prefer long on dips, but must remain cautious as any bad news will send the markets lower.

The market traded lower soon after the opening. The sell orders were intense and any attempt to rebound was met with selling pressure, reaching almost a 2% loss. At noon the market traded higher closing the day at a negative 1%, proving our approach of buying on down pressure quite succesful. At this levels we recommend caution but our stance remains the same (long on selling pressure).  Market participants are very nervous as a result of the  recent announcement from the FED and dire economic news out of China.  We hope trading resumes to normal trading patterns with less volatility!!! For the remainder of the week we will trade less as to maintain current profits.

NDX2106

The market opened higher but soon entered into negative territory before rebounding, The NDX 100 closed somewhat lower but the Dow and the S&P 500 managed to close positive. We bought on down moves and closed our positions quickly as the market was nervous after yesterday´s selloff. Our prefered trade is to buy on down moves.

As mentioned yesterday, today we saw a bloodshed in the market with losses well above 2% in the Dow, S&P 500 and the Nasdaq. We thought today we were going to have a down market but it well surpassed our expectations. The Fed will soon end its accommodative policies, therefore the market is adjusting its QE induced profits. Hopefully the adjustment will be quick allowing the markets to move on economic news as well as stock fundamentals.  We are changing our prefered trade; as of today we prefer to go long on dips.
